Principal’s Message

Welcome to Coláiste Eoin, Finglas, Dublin

Thank you for taking the time to consider Coláiste Eoin as the school of choice for your son or daughter. A visit to our school website offers you a very small snapshot of the wide range of unique learning opportunities and exciting experiences that pupils are exposed to in their time in Coláiste Eoin.

I am very proud with Mr. William Deery, Deputy Principal, to have the privilege to lead a wonderful team of dedicated, talented and enthusiastic teachers who care deeply about students and take pride in the high level of excellent teaching and learning that happens on a daily basis in Coláiste Eoin.

We as a school community, through great teamwork and an ethos that is steeped in care and centred on the best possible outcomes for the student, encourage and support our students to discover their unique talents and to experience academic success.

My vision is that every student in our care will grow into a mature, caring, engaged member of society with ambition and belief in their future. That they will enjoy a wide range of experiences while on their academic and emotional journey in Coláiste Eoin. That we as a staff will encourage and develop in our students their own creativity, a love and appreciation of the arts, will drive and encourage innovation, entrepreneurship and sporting excellence. That all students will enjoy school, be happy and experience success. Our aim is that students will explore and discover their own unique talents.

My wish for each student is that they will reach the highest possible academic standard and leave Coláiste Eoin with a strong belief in their own worth and the knowledge and confidence that they are talented and have an exciting future ahead of them.

In Coláiste Eoin we place huge value on celebrating success and to ensure this we provide a wide range of learning opportunities for our students to experience. Initiatives like horse riding, fly fishing, chess, samba drumming, film and book clubs, iPad and rock climbing clubs among others. These are offered through our homework club and through our JCSP Library and our Literacy programme. We participate in the DEIS (Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools) initiative and as a result have a wonderfully resourced JCSP Library and a full time librarian on our staff. Literacy and Numeracy are always high on our agenda and in 2016 we are focusing on Literacy in our School Improvement Plan.

Should you choose Coláiste Eoin for your son/daughter I can guarantee that he/she will receive first class tuition from wonderfully talented teachers in a warm and caring environment.  I believe that your child will be extremely happy and well cared for in our school. We see our role as being in partnership with our parents, and parents are always welcome to visit our school.  I look forward with confidence to meeting you and your son or daughter and introducing you to our wonderful school.

Kindest regards,

Paula O’Brien
